Ok let's see - we have an image hosted on a profile that is 1 day old and asks you to visit a website with a strange url with a promise of a financial reward on an another website. How do you even imagine  that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam  deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.

Bronies go nuts, and Nintendo Sucks?Equestria Girls
The trailer to "Equestria Girls" (the humanized MLP spinoff film) finally was released today. Aaaannnd everyone's freaking out. Again.
You know, it actually looks pretty decent. Bronies... please understand: I know you're a major unexpected demographic for the show. I know you enjoy seeing shout-out's become canon within the show, and appreciate how the creators do little things here and there for you. But... the show isn't made for you. This is not Cartoon Network and the target demographic isn't 25 year olds in college. You're a nice addition to the target demographic of little girls, but you are not the driving force behind MLP.
I don't want this to sound mean, but it needs to be said. This is where it becomes very important to understand the fine line between being a fan of the show and thinking that because you've invested so much energy into the show that you're entitled to things.
I'm sure the movie won't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It honest

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

OK guys, I don't typically do this but I'm throwing in my two cents. I do not like the new browse popular system :( I think its no longer in the hands of the community to decide what they like, when higher ups are allowed to decide which categories the favs count for (Ie. a poem with 100 faves equals and anime picture with 1500 faves. not bashing poetry here and thats not the actual numbers just what my understanding of fairexposure is)

I think the idea sounds great. but its not working. There is stolen artwork on the front page and they aren't even taking it down. That is not a good example of what deviantart is like and fairexposure doesn't work if it promotes things an artist didn't even do over unknown deviants with amazing art! Also if unknown deviants post in popular sections they are going to have to work forever to get higher in the browse!

I do like the idea behind fairexposure, to push unknown deviants higher up in the browse. But i don't think its all been thought through. IT would be great if we could have two feeds on the front page, the old system and the new algorithm system.

If you don't agree with me that is fine, you can even let me know that you don't :) but if you do agree, there is a petition for reforming fairexposure getting started right here: [link]

Most of this has gone way over my head - does it basically mean that if you browse, less-favourited pieces will appear even if you set the search to popular? I've often seen newly-uploaded pics of mine make the first page of the "Popular in 24 hours" search... is that what the fair exposure thing is all about? :confused:

Its the popular section on the front page, it now has less favorited things pushed to the front based on a the different categories things are in. It seems like in the past couple of days things have been shifting a little bit more towards how they normally were, they must be tweeking it :)

However withing the individual categories it is still the same. So if you had the most favorites for the day in comics, you would still be at the top.

Its is a new system DA put in place for the popular section on the front page that pushed up pictures with fewer favorites ahead of other images based on what category they are in :)
